  • Cheap Baby Changing Bags? Or “Inexpensive” Baby Change Bags?
Posted on Wednesday, November 4th, 2009 in Uncategorized – Comments: (0)
It’s silly but this matters to us.  On the one one hand, we want people to know that our bags are (we think) the cheapest that you can find anywhere on the internet.  We like to give you value-for-money because, you’ll probably want to come back and shop with us again, and because it makes you happy! On the other hand, none of our bags are “cheap”.  We don’t sell “cheap” bags because there’s just no point.  When I was pregnant with my first son, I got a really simple cheap bag and thought nothing of it.  Until, that is, it started to rip apart, got covered in stains (because it wasn’t properly cleanable), and began to smell very, very bad.  It was also ugly.  Ugh.  I then saw someone with a Lin & Leo baby change bag and it looked so much better!  No only did she look like amazingly chic, with a float-above-it-all air (which is quite something when you’ve got an eight week old baby), it was clearly very, very practical.

So that’s the sort of thing we sell now.  We’ve got less expensive BabyMel nappy bags that are cute and simple yet hold everything you need; we’ve got the Lin and Leo change bags I mentioned, and we’ve got a really, really nice range of StorkSak changing bags.  In fact, if you look at the website (here) you can probably tell that I pretty much have to sell every StorkSak bag that they make!  I love them.  They all have change mats (obviously) but they also have insulated bottle holders, and they all look like designer handbags – because they are.  They’re as much a bag for you, as they are for baby.

Anything that makes you happy in those first few weeks is VERY, VERY GOOD.  Many of us had a pretty blue time of it, and to have something a bit special … we’ll it mattered to me at least.

Take a look and see what you think.

  • The New Wave of Baby Changing Bags
Posted on Wednesday, July 8th, 2009 in Baby Changing Bags – Comments: (0)
One of the biggest maternity style trends has been the adoption of cool baby change bags by mums to be and new mums. Gone are the days when moms would throw baby paraphenalia into whatever bag they had close at hand. Having a matching “pram bag” is also no longer popular – gorgeous baby changing bags which compete with the latest fashion bags are the key look today. These new styles of baby changing bags hold their own in the fashion stakes yet are robust and large enough to be a practical option. When you are choosing a baby change bag you need to bear in mind that this is an investment buy which should not only see you through your baby’s early days but still be around for any later additions to the family. But when you’ve finished using your bag to carry baby items, the best baby changing bag will convert effortlessly into all purpose designer bag.

  • How to Pick the Perfect Maternity Dress
Posted on Wednesday, April 15th, 2009 in Maternity Dresses – Comments: (0)
A maternity dress has to be a must-buy for every pregnant woman. Even if dresses are something you would normally only wear for formal occasions, you will soon appreciate the comfort and versatility of a maternity dress – not to mention the style! It’s a fact of life that as soon as you announce that you’re pregnant, then the invites for parties, weddings and formal dinners seem to flood in! On these occasions you’d normally be wearing a new dress, but it seems ridiculous to buy a dress that you’ll only wear during the next nine months.Well, the key here is to buy a dress you love, yet one that is versatile enough to wear at many different events. Perhaps a flexible style which can be altered to look differently, like the amazing “six way dress”, or one that can be dressed up or down with clever maternity accessories.
  • Designer Maternity Swimwear
Posted on Tuesday, April 21st, 2009 in Maternity Swimwear – Comments: (0)
Today there are much wider maternity swimwear choices available than there was just a few years ago.One good reason for this is that swimming, and forms of exercising in water has become very popular and recommended by health professionals. Exercising gently in water is important in pregnancy, helping a pregnant women to be in good shape for the birth and afterwards. So swimsuit manufacturers have responded to this trend by producing wider ranges of comfortable maternity swimwear including maternity swimsuits and tankinis for pregnant women. Also, pregnant women themselves have influenced the growing style portfolios of swimwear designers, asking the same amounts of style and design details they are accustomed to be transferred to maternity swimwear too.A maternity swimsuit is a one piece option suitable for the pool and beach and for swimming or exercising in water in your local swimming pool.Maternity swimsuits are constructed for ease and comfort.

We’re now 6 months old! Yay!We had a great March, lots of bags sold (as usual!) and also had a great time at the Little Monsters Show in Bristol. Our overall best sellers were: The StorkSak Elizabeth change bag is a big favourite, in lovely leather with lots of organisational details. The Emily changing bag by StorkSak has also been popular this month, it comes in black and brown and as with all the StorkSak bags, looks nothing like a change bag. The end of February saw our mini-collection arrive from Boob, with maternity dresses and the Smocked Nursing Top which has proved very popular during March.

  • Pregnancy Gifts and New Mum Gifts
Posted on Wednesday, March 11th, 2009 in Pregnancy Gifts – Comments: (1)
Pregnant women are always in need of a little pampering and thoughtful maternity gifts are the perfect way of showing you care. Receiving pregnancy gifts can make a pregnant woman feel special and appreciated, at a time when she may not be feeling her best. There is a wide range of maternity gifts available nowadays, particularly online. Here are my favourite suggestions for maternity and new mum gifts.Comfortable clothes:Maternity clothing and nursing clothing are also thoughtful and much appreciated gifts. Breastfeeding tops, loungewear; perhaps even a maternity evening dress can be given as presents. Or maybe some maternity accessories for comfort, such as luxury slippers, or style like a bright pashmina.JewelleryA cool pregnancy gift would be a long necklace with a chunky pendant. The long shape elongates the woman’s look, and a large sized pendant balances their bump. Check that the necklace is adjustable so the pendant can fall just above the bump.

  • Choosing the Perfect Maternity Jeans
Posted on Thursday, March 5th, 2009 in Maternity Jeans – Comments: (2)
Finding the right pair of jeans is a common problem for most women, but if you’re pregnant too, then where do you begin to choose the right pair of maternity jeans?Denim is a really flexible fabric – it gives either warmth in winter or or keeps you cooler in the summer. A pair of maternity jeans is a maternity wardrobe staple that can be both casual and fit for dressier occasions. Denim also can provide a wide range of styles. If you enjoyed wearing low-rise jeans pre-pregnancy, you’ll be relieved to know you can buy this fashion in maternity sizes as well.Unless you are aware of the terms used by manufacturers, selecting a pair of maternity jeans can be confusing and overwhelming. They come in an extensive number of fashions, shades and fits so it will be easier to find the most flattering pair for your body if you understand what to look for.
  • Why Maternity Nightwear is so Important
Posted on Thursday, March 5th, 2009 in Maternity Nightwear – Comments: (0)
Many pregnant women spend a long time carefully planning their maternity wardrobes – for example workwear, evening wear, pregnancy dresses. However, they often focus entirely on their daywear options and forget all about maternity nightwear until suddenly they can no longer struggle into their pre-pregnancy pyjamas and are left to spend the remainder of their pregnancy sleeping in uncomfortable oversize t-shirts.I think it’s time to prioritise maternity sleep wear. While there’s no easy way to get a good night’s sleep when you are pregnant, high quality and comfortable clothing will help you relax a bit more while adding style to your maternity lounge wear wardrobe. Most maternity sleep wear is made with nursing access for wearing after you’ve had your baby and makes for a very good long-term investment. Here’s my maternity sleepwear checklist:Size: Just like the rest of your maternity wardrobe, pyjamas and maternity nighties should be bought in your pre-pregnancy size unless you have gained more than the average 25-35 pounds.
